Change one setting on your phone and I guarantee you will hate using your phone.
iPhone:
Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Colour Filters > On > Grayscale
Android:
Digital Wellness under Settings or Greyscale under Bedtime Mode.
The dullness will suck the life out of you. No more urgent red notifications grabbing your attention. Suddenly the real world looks vibrant and pulls your gaze from the lifeless screen.
There are millions of engineers and billions of pounds poured into finding ways to keep you hooked to your phone.
Why is the notification icon red? Your brain thinks “Urgent attention required!”.
If you’re already hooked to your phone then chances are you’re not going to overcome that force working against you.
This is the biggest impact I’ve found in reducing my screen time throughout the day and it takes just 10 seconds.
P.S If this doesn’t work for you then make sure to still block the blue light being emitted from your phone late at night to avoid disrupting your circadian rhythm.
